Three Great Movies

October 25, 2010 by Crystal Canole
I enjoy movies a lot.  I have seen many movies and have a very huge collection.  There are a couple movies though, that I have seen multiple times.  These are some of my favorite movies from different genres.

Dirty Dancing (Single-Disc Widescreen Edition)

1. Dirty Dancing (1987)

This movie is a classic love story starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.  Jennifer Grey goes on vacation with her family for the summer and falls in love with the dance instructor, Patrick Swayze.  This is a must see film!

Billy Madison (Widescreen Special Edition)

2. Billy Madison (1995)

Billy Madison plays a son who has always been handed everything from his father.  His father is retiring and instead of giving Billy Madison his company he is going to give it to his advisor.  Billy Madison decides to make a deal with his dad and go back to school to prove he is worthy of the company.  This is a very funny movie and a must see.  Grab some popcorn and be prepared to laugh through the whole thing.

Beauty and the Beast (Two-Disc Diamond Edition)

3. Beauty and the Beast (1991)

I am a huge fan of Disney movies from the early 1980's through the 1990's.  Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie from this era.  Beauty and the Beast is about a lovely lady named Belle who stumbles upon a castle of a prince.  The prince has been turned into a beast by witch and only the right lady can break the spell.  It is a classic fairytale love story.

There are many other movies out there that are great, but these are a few of the great ones.

Jackass 3D

October 22, 2010 by Crystal Canole
I saw this movie in theater the other day and was thoroughly pleased.  It was promoted as a 3D movie and I think it falls short for 3D.  Some of the things were in 3D but not like a normal 3D movie.  There was nothing really jumping out at you.

One thing I was surprised about was how many times they showed a penis throughout the movie.  There was quite a few scenes where the male genitalia was proudly displayed.

If your looking for anything other than classic jackass stunts, you will be disappointed.  This movie holds up to the greatness of the other movies/shows and is absolutely hilarious.

I would recommend to watch it in theaters!  Its a great film and leaves the viewer refreshed with laughter.  If you have not seen the other movies check out amazon and you can get them pretty cheap!!

Farting Boxer

October 20, 2010 by Crystal Canole
When I first got Bella she would fart a little bit.  These farts smelt bad but they were always just little poofs.

She is three now and her farts are loud and very smelly!  What am I too do?

I thought maybe it was her food so I tried a different food and no help.  She eats Nutro Ultra Adult and has been eating this brand since I brought her home from the breeder.  I researched the dog foods a lot before I decided on this one.

!!I NEED HELP!!

What am I too do with my adorable but smelly furry friend?  If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Kiteboarding in Michigan

October 20, 2010 by Crystal Canole
I love Kiteboarding!

I learned to kiteboard last year through Great Lakes Kiteboarding.  They taught me everything I needed to know about kiteboarding over a weekend camp.  Then it was my turn to practice and perfect my skills.

I am definitely not a great kiteboarder, but I have a blast every time I go out there.  I love the feeling of gliding across the water.  The power of the wind is something I never understood until this sport.

Wind is an amazing feature of nature.  The sport itself is a dangerous sport but if you know the safety parameters, it is possible to do fairly safely.

The sport itself is expensive to get into but once the equipment and training is paid for, there are no other costs.  The wind and water is free, just sometimes a waiting game.

If your interested in kiteboarding in Michigan check out http://www.greatlakeskiteboarding.com/index.php.

Make sure you ask for Brian and tell him Crystal sent ya.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

October 20, 2010 by Crystal Canole
I am a huge fan of her even though I do not agree with a lot that she has to say.  I listen to her all day long on my phone sometimes because her callers are very interesting.  One thing I do not like about her is her idea on living with someone if you are not married.

She thinks that this is a bad idea and that women are giving it away for free.  I completely disagree with her and think that moving in with someone before you decide to marry them is actually a very good idea.

The amount of marriages that are ending in divorce is astounding.  Perhaps some of these people would have saved themselves a lot of time and money if they had lived with their significant other before getting married.

When you live with the one you love you learn a lot about them that you had not previously known.  All of the issues about cleaning, cooking, and finances could be worked out before you seal the deal with marriage.  Those that go through this process first will have a better chance of making it to their 50 year reunion.

The fact that marriage means nothing to people anymore is another issue.  If two people are happy living with each other and do not want to get married I do not seem a reason for why they should.  To me, marriage is one of the most sacred things that happen to two people and should be taking seriously.  There is no need for divorce and people should try harder at their marriages.

Shacking up as Dr. Laura likes to call it is not giving away your goodies for free. Instead it is taking a test drive of the person you are planning to enter into a forever promise with first.  Marriage needs to be viewed
as forever again and not used as a disposable union.

White Boxer Myths

October 20 by Crystal Canole
The boxer breed itself is an awesome breed.  They have great temperaments and are very playful.  The colors are fawn, brindle, and white.

White boxers have been frowned upon for many years since about 1925.  This is when the color was banned.  From then on white boxers were not allowed to be breed and most breeders would kill them when they were born.  Over the years there have been many excuses drawn up to warrant the killing of these innocent puppies.

White Boxers have high rates of being DEAF and BLIND.
White Boxers are ALBINO.
White Boxers are RARE.
White Boxers are cause by a GENETIC BIRTH DEFECT.
White Boxers are SICKER and more prone to CANCER.

All of these excuses have been used by breeders to euthanize the puppies at birth.  They are not allowed to be registered with ABC and can only have limited registration with AKC.  These days of euthanizing the puppies at birth is starting to change and these great creatures are being put into homes as family members more often now.

White boxers do not have higher rates of being deaf and blind then there colored siblings.  They documentation and statistics out there have not proven this.  They are possibly more susceptible to deafness due to loss of pigment around their ears but there are no statistics to prove the higher rates.

White Boxers are not Albino nor are they rare.  White boxers make up roughly a quarter of all boxers and they receive there genes from there parents.  They are not a genetic birth defect caused at birth.  They have pigment and this is represented by a black nose and black spots that are under their white fur.

White boxers that are placed for sale at astronomical prices is ridiculous.  White boxers should be cheaper than there colored siblings because they cannot be registered and if breed, their offspring cannot be registered.

The only medical issue that white boxers have over other colored boxers is sunburning.  They are more susceptible to the sun burning them because of there pigment.  This is easily fixed with a little sunscreen applied.

I have my own white boxer and she is very healthy and active.  She has no problems associated with her and she is an amazing dog.

CB 350 Restoration Project

October 19, 2010 by Crystal Canole
I recieved this bike two years ago for my birthday. It was just a rolling frame with a box of parts.  It was a mess when we got it.  I spent alot of time cleaning it up.

The bike is beautiful and I cannot ride it anywhere without getting compliments.  There are some problems with the bike that need to be corrected though.  Now comes time for restoring.

I have been looking for original pipes for the bike for the last two years.  I managed to snag one left side pipe for only thirty dollars.  Thats right, only thirty dollars!  The pipe(after I cleaned it) looks like brand new almost with one small hole.  I started looking for the right side pipe and realized that I stole that pipe from that person.  The price of the pipe in near new condition is outrageous.  So I have began looking at JC Whitney.

The seat also has a rip in it that needs to be replaced.  I have not managed to find a seat that looks better than mine yet though.

The tank is garbage.  Its rusting out bad and needs to be replaced.  I am debating on buying any tank that looks good and just getting the whole bike repainted.

I have added a lot of new original parts to the bike but really need these parts.  I have looked on eBay, junk yards, craigslist, etc. with no luck so far.  If you have the parts I need let me know and you will make me a very happy person.

updates to follow and pictures

Now there is a horrible backfire coming from the mufflers and a ticking sound.  Just replaced the gaskets with home made ones and might of messed up the points.

Tips for Collecting Nes Games

October 19, 2010 by Crystal Canole

I am an avid game player from Nes to PlayStation 3.  I enjoy old and new games.  I have recently, over the past year or so, begin collecting video games.  I have set aside an entire room in my house to be a gaming room.  I have many different systems but I decided to begin collecting Nes games.

At first site, it is overwhelming to see the amount of games that were actually made for the system.  For me it was a goal set high that I must achieve.  In today's market on eBay, normal games are going from 1-5 dollars.  The rare ones and ones that contain the manual and box are obviously going for more.

I decided to set up an excel spreadsheet to accumulate the total amount of money that I am spending on games.  In the beginning I was looking for ones that I wanted to play and buying separately. THIS WAS A BIG MISTAKE.  When you think about buying a game separately you are going to pay at least double what you would of paid if it came from a lot.  I then decided to start buying lots of Nes games and just reselling the games that I received from the lot that I already had.

A real cheap way to get a collection going is by garage sale hunting.  At garage sales some games maybe only be .50 cents.  Some people see the games as old and useless so they just want to get rid of them.

Another way to get games for a good deal is by asking the people you already know.  A lot of people have old games and systems lying around that they do not care for.  These purchases will be amongst your cheapest investments into game collecting.

The last thing to consider are the rare games.  Rare games are gonna cost a lot more than a couple bucks but there are still some great deals out there.  The key to getting a good deal on rare games is knowledge.  Watch how much the game is selling for on eBay and look up what stores are selling them for.  I always use the rule of 10 dollars less than the lowest price I have seen the game going for.  I have gotten lucky with this technique and have gotten some really great games.  This is a very slow process though.  You may have to bid on multiple listings before you get your big break.

In the end collecting video games is not going to make you rich one day.  You have to have the passion and drive for video games to make it.  This type of collecting is for pure enjoyment and realize that you will end up spending more money on the games than you will get when you go to sell them all.

Creating My Own Blog

October 19, 2010 by Crystal M. Canole

Hello!  For a few years now I have debated on creating a blog.  I have finally decided to do it and so far it has been very interesting.  Figuring out how it all works and putting it all together will take many trials. It will be a continual construction site until I get it just how I want it.

I have been using the Internet to learn how to blog. There is a lot of information on the Internet about blogging but it may be easier to grab a book from amazon or your local library if you think you might want to blog.

This blog will develop into a multi-facet blog discussing a wide range of things.  Discussions will be interactive and if you have a question or comment do not hesitate to ask and I will respond as quickly as possible.
